The Chisumle-Demchok Road was recently black-topped, making it the highest motorable road in the world and etching its name in the Guinness Book of World Records. The road, which is 52 kilometres long, connects Chisumle to Demchok and goes up to an altitude of 19,024 feet at the Umling La Pass. There are more than one reasons to visit Ladakh that is home to arid mountains, picturesque gompas, meditational mani walls, multi-hued flags and now highest motorable road in the world. Yes, you heard us right!

Located at an elevation of 2750 – 7672 meters above sea level, Ladakh is blessed with incredible topography that comprises of hilly terrains, high altitude peaks and the lush green grasslands. Recently, this place got the highest motorable road in India, smashing the previous record held by Bolivia.

EXPEDITION DETAIL

DAY 1 : ARRIVE AT LEH AIRPORT

Arrival at Leh airport (your own), to be greeted and received by our representative and transferred to the Hotel. Check in to the hotel for a complete day rest. Later evening visit to Leh local Market, Leh Palace and Shanti Stupa. Overnight stay at Leh.

DAY 2 : LEH – SHAM REGION ( 124 Kms / 5-6 Hrs )

After breakfast drive to Gurudwara Patthar Sahib (A Gurudwara constructed & maintained by the Indian Army), Hall of Fame (A Museum developed by the Indian Army) and Sangam (Confluence of Zanskar & Indus River) and Magnetic Hill Return back to Leh. Overnight stay at Hotel.

DAY 03 : LEH – NUBRA VALLEY ( 130 Kms / 4-5 Hrs )

After breakfast drive to Nubra Valley (known as the Valley of Flowers) via Khardong la Pass (highest motorable road in the world, 18,380 ft). Enroute, admire the spectacular views of the never-ending snow-capped mountain ranges around K-Top. After spending some time at k-top, proceed to Nubra . After Hotel check-in, enjoy the Camel ride at Sand Dunes (own) between Diskit and Hunder Village. Overnight stay in Nubra.

DAY 04 : NUBRA VALLEY TO PANGONG LAKE ( 155 Kms / 4-5 Hrs )

After Breakfast check out and leave for Pangong Lake 14,500 ft, approx. 6 – 7 Hrs drive en route visit Diskit monastery and Maître Buddha statue, Arrival at Camp, later free time at Leisure and enjoy the color changing lake and the sun set on the banks of lake. Overnight stay at Pangong Lake

DAY 05 : PANGONG LAKE TO HANLE ( 175 Kms / 6-7 Hrs )

After breakfast check out from hotel and drive to Hanle, by crossing Chushul Village, Chushul War Memorial , Tsaga La (15,200 Ft) enjoy the drive upto Hanle, is home to the Indian Astronomical Observatory. The location of the village and the observatory are highly sensitive due to the close proximity of the Tibetan / Chinese border, India set up the Himalayan Chandra Telescope, a 2m gamma ray telescope. Once complete the Major Atmospheric Cerenkov Experiment Telescope gamma ray telescope under construction they will be the world’s largest telescope at the highest altitude and the second largest gamma ray telescope in the world. As per history, it is believed that King Singge Namgyal died here at Hanle while on his return from an expedition Mongols. Enjoy the stay with locals at local guest house. Overnight stay at Hanle.

DAY 06 : HANLE – UMINGLA PASS – HANLE

After breakfast at Hotel / Guest house drive to Umling La or Umlung La is a mountain pass in Ladakh, India on the ridgeline between Koyul Lungpa and the Indus River near Demchok. At an elevation of 5,640 metres (18,500 ft), it forms the source for the Umlung stream that drains into the Indus and a tributary of the Kiungdul river that drains into Koyul Lungpa. which ascends to a great height of 5,798.251 m (19,024 ft 0.73 in) in the vicinity of the pass, making it the world’s highest motorable road.[1]after explore drive back to Hanle for dinner and overnight stay

DAY 07 : HANLE TO TSOMORIRI & TSOMORIRI TO HANLE MAHE BRIDGE ( 130 Kms / 4-5 Hrs )

After breakfast check out and drive to Tsomoriri Lake cross Mahe Bridge, on the way to the Lake. Arrival at Korzok by late noon. Evening take a walk around the Lake to enjoy the scenic beauty. Overnight stay at Korzok (Tsomoriri).

DAY 08 : TSOMORIRI TO TSOKAR – TAGLANGLA – LEH ( 260 Kms / 8-9 Hrs )

After breakfast retrace the route down to Puga Sumdo and then follow the road across the Polokongka Pass (4920 mtrs) to visit Tsokar Lake, a Salt Lake system in the Rupsho plateau which is home of the Changa nomads and support many rare wild life species. After sightseeing of the area take the Manali-Leh road to return to Leh, crossing Taglang-la pass (alt: 17,585ft) en- route. Arrive at hotel in Leh for dinner and overnight.

DAY 08 : LEH AIRPORT DEPARTURE

Early morning transfer to the airport and fly back to your destination with Sweet Memories of Ladakh.
